Moving on, Moving well
Moving on and moving well towards achieving future goals is the ambition of many secondary students. Emmaus Catholic College at Kemps Creek supports the initiative of the University of Western Sydney, “Fast Forward”.
Taking part in this program along with other schools in the region allows Emmaus to provide a unique opportunity for students. Those who show initiative and interest are selected to participate in Fast Forward.
Jacqueline Forster a Year 10 Emmaus student explains, “our group went to the UWS campus where we were able to speak to current students. They welcomed your questions about practical aspects of life at USW”.
“It was good to feel we could explore the environment in and out of lecture rooms”, added Emma Willoughby also from Year 10 at Emmaus. “I found the students and staff very helpful to us with practical advise about subjects, courses, finance and the way university differs from school’.
“Being able to share our concerns and possibilities with students from other schools is also a valuable part of Fast Forward as we look at our post school options”, said Jacqueline.
The Program is ongoing with the Emmaus students confident there will be more visits and continuing support as they move on to their senior years at Emmaus College and the contacts made at UWS.
